Many companies have expensive applicant tracking systems which ask candidates to identify their race and gender as they apply for positions. Some companies attempt to collect this information manually. Yet other companies do nothing and hope that they will never be the subject of an audit or an investigation.
The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs recently re-defined a number of aspects surrounding the definition of an internet applicant and the associated record keeping. Those requirements go into effect on February 6, 2006 which is the end of a four month grace period.
Due to the sheer volume of candidates received across the internet, collecting and retaining candidate information on race, gender, and qualifications has been difficult.
It’s been suggested that in order to accommodate these requirements, companies must purchase one of those expensive applicant tracking systems and do it RIGHT NOW. We believe this is much too important of a decision to rush. This is why we are offering free 12-month subscriptions to our basic EEO-Comply system.
Some common questions:
How Does This System Work?
- Every time you receive a resume, you will send the applicant an auto-reply which thanks them for their resume. (If you don’t have this capability let us know and we can help.)
- You will simply insert a paragraph into that email asking the candidates to visit our data-collection site which will ask and record their responses.
- We will maintain your data and deliver it to you at regular intervals.
What Kind Of Data Is Collected?
- You can ask candidates to voluntarily identify their race and gender (they can elect to not identify this information).
- Organizations that need to can also ask about Veteran Status or Disabilities.
- You can ask each candidate up to three screening questions about their qualifications per job (optional).
Can I See This System In Action?
Sure, this is the best method to determine if this solution meets your needs. Just send an email to the address below. You will get a reply message thanking you for your resume (you don’t have to actually send one). Follow the instructions in that email and you will experience the job seeker’s perspective.
